About the Event

Shelve any notions of tubs and rubber ducks, because there’s no water or actual bathing involved at all.

A sound bath focusses more on enveloping you in the relaxing, meditative noise of sound waves from crystal bowls, gongs or other instruments. The concept of sound baths originated in Tibet some 2000 years ago but has enjoyed a recent surge in popularity

A Sound Bath is a deeply-immersive, full-body listening experience that intentionally uses sound to invite gentle yet powerful therapeutic and restorative processes to NURTURE YOUR MIND AND BODY. The experience begins with each person lying down or seated in a comfortable position, often with a blanket and an eye mask.

As baths can last up to an hour, it’s important that you are warm and as comfortable as possible, wear comfortable and warm clothes, something comfy to lie on. Some peopel also bring a pillow and blankets.

Throughout the sessions, people experience a range of physical and mental sensations. Most commonly, they fall into a deep state of relaxation. But participants have also had creative “aha!” moments, shed tears, and even slept. Others may feel very little.

There’s  evidence that the singing bowls can lower blood pressure and heart rate, this is because certain sounds activate the parasympathetic nervous system — the part of the body that regulates rest —which is what causes muscles to relax, breathing to slow, and blood pressure and heart rate to lower.

Soothing music also activates the sensory pathways that compete with pain pathways. Pain is a huge stressor — the heart beats harder, blood pressure spikes and muscles ache.

“Sound bathing is not about melody, but about the physical vibration of sound itself. The instruments are played in a way that produces deep, resonating tones. This creates a powerful field of vibration that is felt in body, mind and spirit.”

Sound bathing can offer some people easier access to meditation. Following the sound into silence, eases your attention away from your mind, into your body and into sound – and ultimately, the silence between sounds.
