Service Description

The Role of Micro Moves Micro moves are the cornerstone of Somatic Yoga, involving slow, focused, and minimal movements that engage the body's deep muscles and nervous system. These movements are designed to be gentle and precise, allowing practitioners to become more aware of their body and its patterns. Enhanced Body Awareness: Micro moves encourage heightened body awareness by requiring close attention to subtle changes in muscle tension and movement. This awareness helps identify and correct habitual patterns that may contribute to pain and discomfort. Re-education of the Nervous System: By engaging in slow, deliberate movements, the nervous system learns to release chronic muscle tension and adopt healthier movement patterns. This re-education process is crucial for overcoming deeply ingrained habits that lead to pain and injury. Gentle and Safe Approach: Micro moves are inherently gentle, making Somatic Yoga accessible to individuals of all fitness levels and physical conditions. This approach minimizes the risk of injury and allows for gradual, sustainable progress. Stress Reduction and Relaxation: The mindful nature of micro moves promotes relaxation and reduces stress. As practitioners focus on their breath and movement, they enter a meditative state that calms the nervous system and fosters overall well-being. Improved Posture and Alignment: Consistent practice of micro moves helps to correct postural imbalances and improve alignment. By addressing the root causes of poor posture, Somatic Yoga supports a balanced and efficient body structure. Feathering Technique: Feathering involves gently moving in and towards a point of resistance or tension and then easing back again. This helps in gradually releasing deeper muscle tension and increasing sensitivity to subtle changes in the body. Pandiculation: Pandiculation is a natural movement pattern involving a slow contraction of a muscle, followed by a slow release and lengthening. This process actively engages the nervous system, resets muscle length, and enhances sensory-motor awareness. It is a powerful method for relieving muscle tension and restoring natural movement. Somatic Scanning: Somatic scanning involves mentally scanning different parts of the body while performing small movements. This practice enhances the mind-body connection and brings attention to areas of tension and restriction.
