We're thrilled to introduce our new class: Kettlebells with a Somatic Approach! This unique class blends the fundamentals of resistance training and kettlebell (KB) lifting with the principles of somatic movement, providing a holistic approach to fitness and well-being. In this class, you'll learn the foundations of kettlebell training from the ground up and from the inside out. We begin with step by step focusing on stability first. Over the weeks we will build on that stablity with strength, stamina, power and cardiovascular fitness while helping you use kettlebells with clarity and confidence. Key benefits of this class include: Mindful Movement: Practice the art of slowing down, paying attention, and moving with awareness to calm your nervous system. Explore sensation and force flow to enhance body patterns and movement organization. Dynamic Mobility: Engage in exercises with shoulders, hips and spine to boost dynamic mobility. Swings, twists, bounces, and micromovements will help you feel loose and limber. Power Development: Learn how to harness power from your lower body to effectively perform kettlebell swings, cleans, presses, and the Goblet squat. Refine whole-body movement skills and challenge your muscular strength. Advanced Techniques: Break down complex movements like the Turkish Get Up, TGU, into manageable sections, improving your performance and movement skills. The TGU requires concentration and body awareness to perform correctly. This mental engagement is beneficial for cognitive health, helping to keep the mind sharp and improving the mind-body connection. The TGU is an advanced move, Successfully performing a TGU can boost confidence in one’s physical abilities. This confidence can translate into a more active lifestyle, encouraging participation in a wider range of physical activities. Nervous System Regulation: Each session focuses on calming your nervous system and cultivating presence for an optimal learning experience. For the best experience, this class will be conducted barefoot due to its somatic and embodied nature. We will provide mats to ensure proper foot grip.
